Treasure hunt in Budapest – find the mini Kolodko statues

Kolodko’s Hidden Mini Statues in Budapest

A Citywide Kolodko Treasure Hunt on Two Wheels

There’s more to Budapest than meets the eye. Scattered throughout the city are tiny bronze statues by sculptor Mihály Kolodko, each telling a playful, satirical, or downright weird story.

Some are easy to spot, others almost impossible to find. But that’s part of the fun.

This is not your typical sightseeing tour—it’s a full-on urban treasure hunt.

People of the city love this tiny statues and in many you’ll see different little clothes add to them by locals.

Why Do It by Bike?

Kolodko’s statues are spread far and wide across Budapest. While you can walk to a few, if you want to find them all, you’ll need wheels.

Luckily, Budapest is full of bike lanes and you can rent bikes easily with the MOL Bubi public system.

Featured Statues

These are some of my personal favorites, and I definitely recommend including them in your hunt:

📍 Near New York Café
An old diver with a key, minding his own business.

The Car on the Curb

📍Folyamat – szobor

📍 Rózsa utca
The statue of Hannah Szenes is a tribute to a young heroine of World War II. Born in Budapest, Szenes joined the Israeli resistance and was captured by the Nazis while attempting to help Jews escape. She was executed at the age of 23. Her figure in the statue is delicate, holding a dove, symbolizing her legacy of bravery and sacrifice.
